Sorry for the lack of posts. I've been busy lately... if you have a question for Patrick Norton of dl.tv and TWiT or Cali Lewis of Call For Help, just post it here for the interviews. We'll answer the questions on the show. Thanks!
Which gaming console are you getting for the holidays (Wii, PS3, or 360) and with which games? Discuss.
I have subscribed to:
Electronic Gaming Monthly -- I have a mailbox subscription to this monthly Ziff Davis publication. I can confidently say EGM is the most well written, informative and entertaining magazine on the market today. EGM delivers indepth cross-platform gaming reviews, previews, and unprecedented news coverage. It also has a well done video podcast called the 1UP Show.
PC Magazine -- Ziff Davis Media. This is a monthly checkout in the library. I've been a regular reader since 2002. I'm confident PC Mag's software and hardware reviews are diverse and honest. PC Mag features a variety of well respected broadcasters, columnists, and writers such as chief editor Jim Louderback, John C. Dvorak, Patrick Norton, Robert Heron, Bill Machrone, and much more.
Nintendo Power -- Nintendo. I occasionally read this magazine. NP's format has recently been redesigned and relifted. However, most Nintendo news, previews, and reviews can be found online instantly and without Nintendo bias ;-)
MacWorld -- My subscription expired this summer. I was a new subscriber and I very much enjoyed the Mac hardware reviews and software tips. Jason Snell is the well-known chief editor.
Long ago a legend was told
Of a great power cast in gold.
If evil used the land would blight,
But a hero's heart would bring the light.
So doth the legend told,
Of the Triforce in the land of gold.
Yet with time the legend did fade,
Till nothing but myth did remain.
So once again the Evil began to rise,
And need of a hero were the people's cries.
For no knights within the land,
Could withstand the Evil's master plan.
Till a boy from the woods did came,
With mighty courage that could not be tamed.
With pure of heart and strength of blade,
He did battle the evil across the plains;
In waters deep and on mountains high,
He did battle the evil with mighty cry.
For time had turned the boy to man.
One who could undo the Evil's plan.
He traveled to the castle of good's spite,
For only his courage could put things right.
He battled through the dungeons for friendship lost,
For if he failed the princess' life would be the cost.
At last the champion reached the tower's top.
He knew this was the end, all best were off.
The Evil Beast stunk like a mire,
Skin like ash, and eyes of fire.
Claws to slash, and teeth to bite,
This Beast was no easy fight.
Thus their battle did begin,
And it looked like the hero wouldn't win.
Bust using his might, he pushed through the pain,
And with a mighty swing cut through its brain.
The battle was over, the land saved,
And the road to healing was now paved.
The Evil vanished, the balance restored
And good from the people's hearts outpoured.
The hero became a legend of his own,
And over time it did fade,
Till nothing but myth did remain.
These are the legends that are told,
In the land of Hyrule, the land of old.
What did you do this weekend?
Last evening I went to a Salmagundi (a literary magazine for my former high school) meetup for a party with a
bunch of my awesome friends. We ended up talking at the footsteps of the plaza of the neighboring quarters about music (mostly metal genre) and videogames (after I went to my friend's house and saw his Kingdom Hearts II guide). At the quiet celebration, I helped myself to brownies, munchkins, and soda. It was a relaxing evening and because Salmagudi is about poetry as opposed to prose, fortunately, the turnout wasn't a sausage fest.Later in the evening, I went to a childhood friend's house, where I watched the Family Guy DVD and played Ratchet & Clank 3 for the PS2. We watched MASH marathons on the Hallmark channel and I caught up with his summer while eating dinner (or rather playing New Super Mario Bros DS).
You can listen Jamie Diamond's interview with Tommy Tallarico of Reviews on the Run and Electric Playground.
He reports from National Youth Leadership Forum on Technology 2006. This is day two of three on the coverage from NYLF.
Final Fantasy Advent Children is an English dubbed film based on the highly successful Final Fantasy
VII. It's offered in two formats: NTSC and PAL so I would only watch it on the big screen if it were converted properly without pixelation. The film is set two years after the events of Final Fantasy VII, in a
post-apocalyptic world, and follows the game's primary protagonist Cloud Strife as he unravels the cause of a mysterious plague Geostigma that has affected the population (mostly children).
